Hello Fitness

Hello Fitness

Since I have broken my arm, I have been on a quest for things to do that do not require two arms. Most of my usual activities (sewing, painting, embroidery) are pretty dependent on the use of both hands. Today I was telling Madison that I needed something new to do while Nora napped, and he suggested that I take a walk on the treadmill my mother-in-law has in the basement. Perfect idea! One of my goals for 2014 was to get healthier, and I can totally walk without either hand. I will admit that I am not in great shape right now. I gained a lot of weight during pregnancy that did not come right off after giving birth. Imagine that? At least I had hope. Postpartum weight coupled with general unhealthy eating habits have landed me at a place I am not comfortable with. I plan to start right now and change my bad habits so I can get back down to the weight I used to be. Right now I do not have a specific goal weight, I just want to start working on healthier behaviors.

First thing to do: get running shoes. My ironic Donny Miller Vans slip-ons will only take me so far. Second: make an effort to walk at least 30 minutes a day, everyday, while catching up on New Girl via Netflix. If you want to follow my progress and keep me accountable, you can check out the #hkhellofitness tag on Twitter and Instagram. I'll also be posting some of my new healthier routines and meals here from time to time.

Enjoy a before picture of me looking SUPER fabulous:

I am rocking that sling.

Comments of encouragement are welcome! Any new moms out there struggling to get back to their old selves?
