Nora's 1st Birthday: Scouting Party Locations

Today we went scouting locations for locations for Nora's birthday party. Her birthday is at the end of this month and we want to have the party outside. Call us crazy, but I checked the weather and it is supposed to be 70 degrees that day! I know it will probably change but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Madison has been telling me about the summit of East Rock in New Haven for a while now. We took a ride up there on opening day for the season to see what it was like. There are plenty of picnic tables and a pavilion we can reserve so it might be a great spot for a party! I'm not really much of a party planner so any suggestions are welcome. We are doing a hot air balloon theme so I'm going to get started on invitations and decorations very soon.

If you can't tell from the pictures below, Nora really enjoyed being up so high. She's a baby who likes the wind in her hair. Oh, and how cute is her dress? You might recognize it from this post about Nora's birthday wish list. When Madison's dad and step-mom visited recently they got it for her, and I really couldn't wait another month for her to wear it. Can you blame me? She looks too adorable.

After we checked out the summit, we took a short 10 minute trip to the playground near our house. Nora loved the swings! I'm really not surprised because that was always my favorite thing, too. We put her in the elephant rocking chair and she was a little less impressed. We were on our way to an appointment so we couldn't stay long, and Nora cried when we left! Poor thing was having too much fun. We'll be going back very soon.
