Easter 2016

Happy Easter! We had a laid back holiday this year. Since Madison had to work an overnight, we decided to celebrate on Saturday instead of Sunday. We made a special call to the Easter Bunny and he came and dropped off baskets on Saturday morning for the girls. We spent the day playing with new toys, baking brownies, having an Easter egg hunt in the living room and painting. I only took a few photos of the girls because I'm trying to be in the moment more. Although truthfully I did record the entire Easter egg hunt to sent to the grandparents.

Hope you had a lovely holiday!

Easter 2015

Happy Easter! We had a pretty quiet holiday this year, which was just fine for us. With all of the things that have been going on lately, it was nice to just spend a day at home with each other.

Nora's birthday is coming up in a few weeks so she got a pretty small Easter basket. We did end up giving her one birthday present early though, because I may have gone a little overboard while shopping a couple weekends ago. In her Easter basket she got a new color book (Crayola Color Wonder because she likes to draw on her face), a Easter plate and utensil set (thank you Target $1 bins), a stuffed Goofy doll, a set of play car keys (because she likes to steal ours), and some empty Easter eggs. She also got a Fisher Price Little People aquarium playset (the early birthday present) which she loved! It has a little spinning pool and she had fun spinning all of her people around.

We spent the morning watching movies and playing with the new toys. Goofy definitely needed a ride on the car.

Nora really liked the Easter grass, and she finally got to wear a dress that has been in her closet for a year.

Nora took a nap and slept for almost 3 hours, which was just enough time for Madison and I to watch Interstellar. The rest of the afternoon was nice and relaxing, except for one hormonal Mommy meltdown. It's ok- we got through it. Sometimes that happens, but we didn't let it ruin our day.

I tried to take Nora for a walk, but that lasted less than 10 minutes because it was so cold. Hopefully next year it will be warm enough for an Easter egg hunt! But until the weather warms up, we'll just enjoy our cozy family days in.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the fabulous mamas out there! Specifically, to my gorgeous mom, up above, who is enjoying this day in sunny Hawaii! I love you so much Mom and I'm so glad you got to take this trip. Hope you're enjoying every second of it!

To all the other moms out there- enjoy this day, even if you aren't in Hawaii. *wink* Whether you work out of the home, in the home, or are a stay at home mom, your job as a mother is the most important one you will ever have. I know for me, being a mom has totally changed my life. I love my little girl more than anything in the whole world. Even on days when I'm exhausted and she has been crying for three hours from having four teeth trying to come in at once and I need to break down and have an ugly cry in bed, once I see her look up at me and smile, every bad feeling goes away and she melts my heart all over again.

I hope you all have a calm, no tear day, with breakfast in bed (or at least sitting down), and lots of cuddles and kisses from your babies.

Enjoy Mama- you deserve it!

This year was Nora's first Easter. She missed last year by about a month. We had a nice, low key kind of day. When Nora woke up, I brought her into our bedroom to open her Easter basket. Those pictures aren't the best quality because we had just woken up and I hadn't even had my coffee yet (gasp). Don't worry- she didn't eat any of the Peeps, those were more for decoration, and for Mommy and Daddy. We got Nora some new bath toys and a Lambie stuffed animal. Any other Doc McStuffins fans out there? I'm fairly certain "Time For Your Checkup" is Nora's favorite song.

After we all got dressed we took a family picture -oh yes I dyed my hair purple! - and headed over to my parents' house for Easter lunch. While we were there I had Nora try out my old rocking horse. She was a little skeptical at first but she warmed up to it. My mom and dad got Nora the cutest dress, which I forgot to take a picture of, and a little bunny tree ornament inside a plastic egg. That egg was her favorite toy all day. She kept shaking it to hear the ornament rattle around.

After lunch we headed back to Connecticut for a little family time before putting Nora to bed. All in all it was a nice day. Sometimes it's good to take a break from crazy holiday activities and just spend them with the people you love.
