Freshly Picked Moccasins: Review & Giveaway - CLOSED

In our home, we really love Freshly Picked moccasins. These soft soled shoes are stylish, durable, and comfy for little feet. The 100% leather shoes are easy to put on and take off, but most importantly, they stay on your baby's feet! Nora is tough on her shoes, she spends a lot of time outside playing and we really have trouble finding shoes that won't be destroyed after a week of daycare. Thankfully, these moccasins are perfectly handcrafted to withstand a crazy toddler day.

If you are interested in getting a pair of these moccs for your baby, my number one recommendation is to follow the size chart! We are now on our third pair of moccasins and Nora's first two fit her perfectly as soon as we got them. This time, I guessed at her size without actually measuring her foot. Even though she is a size 6 in most toddler shoes, the size 6 moccs are much too big for her. We recently received the gorgeous Stay Golden Suede Moccs pictured above, and Nora won't be able to wear them until the fall. I'm kicking myself for getting the wrong size because this pair is so cute I really wanted her to wear them this summer. Luckily, the warm golden tone will be beautiful in the fall when these are more likely to fit her.

The upside to this is, I got to go through old photos of Nora wearing her smaller moccs for this post! I'll take any excused to go through my photo archives.

Nora's first pair of Freshly Picked moccasins were Platinum. Not quite silver, and not quite gold, these shoes were perfect to go with any outfit.

Our second pair were Golden Rod. These bright yellow moccs are so sunny and cheerful, they were the best summer accessory.

My personal favorite, Nora's moccs staying put during a long day at Ikea! Anything to make a trip to Ikea less stressful gets an A+ in my book.

Now it's your turn to win a pair of Freshly Picked moccasins for your baby! One reader will win a pair of moccs in their choice of size and color. To enter the give away, all you have to do is head to the Freshly Picked website and leave a comment below telling me why you love Freshly Picked, and which color you would pick if you won. DIY Fabric Paint Shoes

DIY fabric paint shoes hellokelcey.com

This is less of a DIY and more of a "just go do this" post. My friend Cassie posted this picture to her Facebook page the other day and I got super excited. She took plain white $10 tennis shoes and turned them into these adorable black and white oxford inspired shoes.

She only used fabric paint to create this completely custom look. It got me excited to try this on my own. Such a simple process for a dramatic difference.

So what do you think? Will you try painting your shoes? Let me know if you are going to try this out!

I Got Dressed - Hello Apparel

I Got Dressed - Hello Apparel hellokelcey.blogspot.com

Hello! Ok in case you couldn't tell, I really like the word "hello." I'm friendly, I like other people to know I'm friendly, so what better way to do that than have a "hello" sweatshirt from Hello Apparel

I have been a huge fan of this brand for a while. They have the cutest clothes for adults, kids and babies. They offer everything from tank tops to sweatpants to buttons and temporary tattoos. Their kids clothes are some of my favorites. They just get it.

When I was looking at their website I decided to go with the classic "hello" red champ pullover. It's their signature piece and it totally fits with my personality. I know that you're thinking- "Kelcey, it's summer. It's way too hot for a sweatshirt." Wrong! Well, mostly wrong. I will wear this as much as my thermometer allows me until fall then I will wear it every day. Madison and I are hoping to take a mini beach trip this summer and a nice pullover is perfect for cooler nights on the beach.

I paired the pullover with some medium wash jeans, a gold necklace and some tan wedges, to dress things up a bit. I like mixing dressier pieces with more casual ones to create a fun visual juxtaposition.

I love these wedges. They are from Marshall's a few years ago and are so comfy. For someone like myself who is a bit wobbly in heels, these are the perfect option.

When it's too hot to wear a pullover outside, you can find me snuggled up in bed with the A/C blasting. Anything to be comfy and cozy. This sweatshirt is seriously the softest thing ever. It's so comfortable and warm and amazing, and also super great quality.

I highly suggest you go over to Hello Apparel and snag one of these. Come fall I'm pretty sure I won't be wearing anything else.

Thanks to Hello Apparel for sponsoring this post. All opinions and obsession over this pullover are my own.

What's In My Diaper Bag + Stylish Diaper Wipes

What's In My Diaper Bag + Stylish Diaper Wipes

I love organization. I need more organization in my life. Luckily, I have a pretty organized diaper bag, so that is a start! I thought it might be fun to show you what I have in my diaper bag as a mom of a 13 month old. We certainly do not need as many items as we once did when she was teensy, which is awesome.

I have this bag by JJ Cole. I love it. Madison surprised me with it when I was pregnant and couldn't have been happier. First of all, I love the design. It matches our stroller, which is pretty cool. There are also tons of pockets and a handy cross body strap. Only one complaint, I lost one of the zipper pulls on the front! I need to find a new one.

Here is an overhead shot of the bag when it's open. There are four inner pockets and six outer pockets. In the outside pockets I keep a water bottle, hand sanitizer and all of my things; wallet, sunglasses, lipgloss, etc. Inside I have the changing mat that came with the bag, diapers (obviously), two changes of clothes, an umbrella (it was raining today), a small swaddle blanket for any spills, snacks for the whole family and my new favorite wipes case, the Huggies Clutch 'n' Clean Wipes.

Before I got these wipes, I was carrying around a huge pack of 100 wipes, and breaking my back. Not very efficient. Huggies just came out with this great idea for a clutch that you can fill and refill with your favorite Huggies wipes. I have used a plastic case for wipes and it just didn't work. You have to take the wipes out of their package, then load them into the case, and try to not pull them all out at once. Not super convenient or sanitary. With the Clutch 'n' Clean Wipes, you can just put a regular pack of Huggies inside and you're all set.

I love the designs of the clutches, they are so stylish. There are three designs total but I only have two here. I am going to have to grab the other one at some point because it's just as cute. I also love the handy strap. If you have a particularly large diaper bag, or messy baby, you can clip this on the outside for quick access. You could also clip these onto your stroller or purse for cleaning messes on the go. The best part is really that they are refillable with any of your favorite Huggies wipes! The clutches come included with a pack of Huggies natural care already inside, which is awesome. The wipes retail for $3.99, not a bad price for style and functionality!

Thank you to Huggies for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own.

Shop Love: Trending

Shop Love: Trending hellokelcey.blogspot.com

When my friend Beverly told me she was opening her own online clothing store, I was so excited. We went to college together and since I have seen her work first hand, you can believe me when I say: it's good stuff. Her goal was to create a store that provided a selection of one of a kind, high quality statement pieces, for a lower price. Trending is just that: on trend. The online boutique specializes in thrifted and reconstructed apparel, as well as handmade clothing and accessories. The items you will find are standout staple pieces that are perfect for today's modern young women. I love the concept, particularly the reconstructed goods. With just a little alteration, something that seems old and dated becomes fashionable and trendy again. It's perfect! Beverly has a great eye for what is on trend right now, a lot of these pieces have a very 90's feel, which is making a huge comeback right now. For all of us that grew up in the 90's it's awesome to see! I can finally break out my over-sized shirts and chunky heels again, right? Ok, maybe not the heels.

I think the most inspiring part of this store launch is that Beverly used it as a way to pull herself out of what could have been a very devastating situation. She was working for a law firm at the time that was going under, which gave her all the more motivation to make her dream a reality. She is now working on Trending full time and loving it.

If you have ever scoured the racks of a thrift store, then you will know how frustrating it is to dig through the duds and end up with nothing to bring home. As a busy mom, blogger and small business owner I really don't have time for that so I am happy to let someone do it for me. In Beverly's own words:

"I figured I can take the work out of sifting through rack after rack of stained tee shirts and sweaters with holes in them to find the treasures that most people don't know exist. Not only that, but people all over the country don't have access to the thrift stores in Massachusetts and I think these stores have a lot of high end items that you won't find elsewhere."

Since she has a partial education in Fashion Design, Beverly will also be creating handmade goods for her store. Currently she is offering headbands, but intends to include more items like bandeaus and crop tops very soon.

I hope you are all as excited as I am about this new shop launch! And because she is so great, Beverly has generously offered all Hello Kelcey readers 30% off everything at Trending with the code "hellokelcey" until July 31st, as well as free shipping on all orders over $20 (no code, and that does not expire!).

I Got Dressed - Denim on Top

Kelcey Wears - Denim on Top hellokelcey.blogspot.com

Hello there! I'm back with another outfit post. I decided to change the name of this feature to I Got Dressed...because it still surprises me after months of PJs while recovering from my accident. This might become a weekly series, or bi-weekly depending on how many times I get dressed each week. I think this will be a great way to show other stay at home moms how I dress to be cute and stylish, but also comfortable. The comfort is from the leggings, of course. Two weeks of leggings... I do own pants I swear.

Again, I can't link you to anything because this is all pretty old. The pink shirt is from HIGH SCHOOL... The denim polka dot shirt is from Old Navy last year. They might have something similar this year, I feel like they tend to bring things back in the same season the following year. These leggings are from Aerie, when I worked there in college. I love the zip ankle, it adds some fun interest. Don't we all want more interesting ankles? The flats are Topshop for Nordstrom. I can guarantee they don't have these anymore because I'm pretty sure I got the last pair in New England. The necklace is from Forever 21, again last year. This outfit is super comfy but I don't feel like a slob in it. Also, my hair officially faded back to red. I just can't escape it.

I kept my makeup pretty neutral today as well. I did regular foundation routine which I mentioned here paired with a gold sparkly shadow, brown eyeliner and mascara. I also did a nude lip which I never do. I always wear a bold lip or nothing at all, but I'm kind of really liking this. I may have to do it more often.

What are your go to pieces for a comfy but cute outfit?

I Got Dressed - Summer Gypsy Mom

Kelcey Wears - Summer Gypsy Mom hellokelcey.blogspot.com

HAYO we're going to try something new over here. Outfit posts! I know you're all dying to see more of me so that is for you. Really it's for me as motivation to get out of my pajamas during the day. Any other stay at home moms out there who can relate? I just want to be comfy. Well this outfit is super comfy and looks cute so it fits both criteria, exactly what I'm looking for in a momiform. I'm still getting used to be in front of the camera for a change so bear with me ok! I'm going to call this one Summer Gypsy Mom because of the kimono. I need more of those in my life. What a perfect way to be comfortable but look put together. Win win! Two more things - why is my hair red again? I distinctly remember dying it purple. If you haven't been following for a while, I have a broken wrist, hence the brace. That was not a fashion choice. Ok here we go...

*awkward*

I don't have any links for you because I bought all of this so long ago, but! I can tell you the tank is from Old Navy and it's my favorite, the leggings and sandals are from American Eagle, the headband is from Forever 21 and the kimono is from Urban Outfitters. I made my necklace and you can find a tutorial right here.

Nora's Birthday Dress... Again

Again?! Will this lady ever stop talking about this dress?? NO. Just kidding, this is the last time...Or maybe just one more time after this. I wanted to take a few more pictures of her in the birthday dress I made because during her birthday party it was too cold for her to wear it without a sweater. I also forgot to get a picture of her in the dress with the glitter crown I crafted. While I was in party mode, I made a matching bow headband, so she wore that in a couple pictures as well. I'll have a DIY post coming up soon for that. Spoiler alert: it's super easy and you're going to want to make a ton. Anywho- enjoy our quick little birthday-ish photo shoot!
